Calvin Klein built his business with Barry Schwartz and had his first order of $50,000 taken by Bonwit Teller. Teller growing Calvin into a lifestyle brand made him infamous. Infamous enough to attract the likes of the Gambino Family. Yes, the Gangsters.
Klein recalled “ One day, I got a call from the Gambinos telling me that they are now my truckmen. I said, ‘What do you mean, truckmen?’ I was just barely in business. At that point, I began to realize how important it was to not think that I know everything.” “….they wanted 25cents to deliver a box…”
