Kardashian Kollection hits Sears August 25

Congratulations Kardashians! The dynamic Kardashian sisters continue to redefine themselves in Fashion and the Arts. The Kardashions have a line for QVC but their latest venture has landed in retail stores. Sears to be exact. This fall Sears will redesign its stores to include the recently designed Kollection. I watched the Kardashians put together two boutique stores in Miami and New York. I think the Kardashians are taking style and fashion one step at a time and it’s definitely paying off.

This group of fashionistas describes this line as “tangible”. “The QVC line is Casual this line includes lingerie, bags, shoes, and jewelry.” Says Kourtney. The new Kardiashian Kollection is perfect for the “X” shape woman. Kim stated, “Usually when I buy clothes off the rack, I need to have them adjusted.” Essential pieces that fit a curvy woman. I have seen a lot of lines being developed for curvy women. Will this be the next fashion trend to surpass a faux pas of high fashion cuts and designs for the tall and slender?

Style Fabrication: Nylon vs. Silk and Cotton… Contrast Blends

Many designers are presenting the Resort Collections for 2012 this weekend so that means RTW for the summer and must haves for autumn. For many designers fabric is just as important as the pattern.

Nylon is probably the most popular fabric for swimwear and activewear. It’s a synthetic fabric so it’s strong and lightweight components make it very durable. An easy to wash moisture absorbent that dries easily makes this fabric a no brainer for most swimwear fabrication.

High fashion designer Max Azria 2012 Resort Collection were fabricated with cotton, silk, and chiffon.

Style Fabrication: Stretch Sateen

Fabrication is what brings fashion designs to life. It is the process of constructing from fabric.

Stretch Sateen commonly used for making leggings or jeggings is made from cotton. The addition of spandex in the fabrication changes the typical look of cotton to a semi gloss. Cotton usually creates a woven material but leggings or jeggings need some elasticity and spandex makes the perfect solution. The combination of cotton and spandex is termed stretch sateen which can be used in shirts, dresses, skirts, and pants. A nice silhouette can be created by using stretch sateen as shown in the above photos of Meagan Good!

News: Louboutin Sues YSL: Protect Your Brand!

Louboutin Protects its Brand

Celebs love Louboutin

Christian Louboutin most famous for its celeb following (Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, etc.) is suing Yves Saint Laurent for selling a pair of heels with red soles. The suit accuses YSL of “causing confusion, mistake and deception among the relevant purchasing public.” {New York Daily News} I guess some people appreciate originality. I understand. People these days view “piggy backing” as the sure fire way to success. Why not create a duplicate or slight variation of somebody else’s success. Everybody else does it!

Donna Karan Gets Moving With Urban Zen

By Brooke Bobb:

Inez and Vinoodh shot Isabeli Fontana for Donna Karan’s AW11 campaign in New York yesterday, but Karan wasn’t in the mood to discuss it this morning: “Today is all about what you can get here in this space today, what’s going on now and living in the moment.”

We were there to celebrate her most recent Urban Zen collection, called “Elements.” The store meets gallery and event space houses hand crafted Balinese furniture and a health-food kitchen, all part of her effort to “create a retail model that moves faster than that see now, buy later mentality. The new season is in season.”

There are thirty-three pieces in the collection, made of linen and jersey in organic earthy tones, including beach dresses, cropped jackets, billowy tanks, and slim leggings. Donna says her clothes have managed to stay fresh due to the fact that “there’s something for every kind of woman, for a woman who’s always moving and the clothes themselves constantly flow and are all interchangeable.”

She would know—the designer rushed out the door to catch a flight to Haiti before we could shout, “Congrats!’

Like Art? Anthony Liggins Studio Atlanta

As I was on my way to 71 barbershop I had a few minutes and decided to stop and check out some art. Anthony Liggins Art Studio Atlanta that is. It’s usually lock to the public but I managed to get inside. Stephanie Lopez, assistant creative director and Anthony Liggins , Creative Director, gave me a warm welcome and a tour of the studio where Anthony Liggins actually creates and designs his art. I had gotten lucky because Mr. Liggins was on his way out so Stephanie showed me around a bit.

The photos don’t do it much justice, but I didn’t have a lot of time I needed a haircut and some lunch. Mr. Liggins is a classic example of fashion transitioning into art. You almost can’t do one without the other. Check Mr. Liggins out at AnthonyLiggins.com and on Facebook.

ANGEL SIGHTING

Chanel Iman born to Korean and African American parents was undoubtedly a supermodel in the making. Chanel was born in Atlanta on December 1,1990 and started modeling with Ford Models by the age of 13. Her list of magazine appearances include Vogue, Vanity Fair(a personal fav), Harpers Bazaar, Time, and Elle just to name a few.

The Victoria Secrets Brand just made this princess an angel in their last show. I think she is one of the most phenomenal fashion models of this generation and she’s only twenty-one.

Chanel, I just wanted to take some time out to show you some love. Now that you got your wings may the sky be the limit! Congratulations and continued success!
